Ski boot fitting in Salt Lake City at The Lifthouse is included with a boot purchase. Custom modifications start at $100. Appointments are recommended; walk-ins depend on fitter availability. We are a ski shop that also fits — not Sport Loft, Wasatch Custom Fitz, or Daleboot. If you need a full custom-molded boot from a specialist studio, we will say so.
What you actually pay
- Boot purchase: fitting is included. Shell fit, liner work, buckle and cuff setup, and the conversation about how you ski.
- Custom modifications: from $100. Punching, grinding, stretching, and other shell work when the last is close but not perfect.
- Custom footbeds: quoted in the shop. For a lot of skiers this is the single biggest upgrade in the boot they already own.
- ZipFit liners: when foam packs out or you need a liner that holds shape. Cork-and-cage, not foam. Ask at the fitting — we stock them.
We do not publish a menu of every punch and grind because the work depends on the foot. If a studio quotes a $400 fitting package before they have seen you, that is a different product. Ours starts with whether the shell is even the right one.
What actually happens
Foot measurement, how you ski, shell fit with the liner out, liner and footbed, then a walk-around. The step most shops skip is the shell fit. If your toes do not touch the end with the liner out, the boot is too big no matter how it feels in the parking lot. The long version is how we fit ski boots. Sizing homework: boot size and flex.
Rental boots are a different job. If a rental is crushing you, come back and we will recast, recuff, or move you. Do not suffer from 9am to 4pm on Alta's steeps because the morning was busy. Pain is a fit problem, not a toughness test.
Shop vs specialist studio
Wasatch Custom Fitz, Sport Loft, Powder House, and Daleboot live in this SERP because boot fitting is their whole business. They are excellent at it. Choose them if you have a reconstructed ankle, a last no production boot will hold, or you want a multi-hour appointment with no retail floor around you.
Choose us if you also need skis, a demo, or a season lease in the same building, and your feet are in the range a production boot plus a competent fitter can solve — which is most skiers. ZipFit is our answer when the liner, not the plastic, is the problem. We already rank for “zipfit dealers” because we fit them; this is the page that says so in English.
