What Blizzard is good at
Blizzard makes skis that sit in a useful middle: more stable than a pure playful freeride ski, more forgiving than a full metal charger. The Rustler and Sheeva families in particular have become defaults for skiers who want one ski for a Utah season.
Their women's line is not an afterthought, which is worth saying out loud. The Black Pearl has been one of the best-selling women's all-mountain skis in North America for years, and the Sheeva is the direct counterpart to the Rustler rather than a softened-down version of it.
How Blizzard skis in the Cottonwoods
If someone asks us for one ski to cover a whole Cottonwood season and they are not sure how many powder days they will actually get, the Rustler 10 or Sheeva 10 is the answer more often than anything else. Around 102mm underfoot is close to the sweet spot for this snowpack: enough float for a storm morning, enough edge for the groomer back to the car.

The ski matters less than the boot
We will happily sell you a Blizzard ski, but if your boots do not fit, a better ski will not fix it. Most people ski in boots a full size too big. Boot fitting is included when you buy boots here — shell fitting, punching, custom footbeds and canting, done in-house.

They share the same design intent; the Sheeva is Blizzard's women's freeride line and the Rustler is the men's. The meaningful differences are in mount point, flex tuning and available lengths. Sex is a poor proxy for what ski suits you, so we fit by weight, ability and how you actually ski rather than by which catalogue page it came from.
For most people skiing the Cottonwoods on a mix of days, around 100–104mm underfoot — a Rustler 10 or Sheeva 10 — covers the widest range. Go narrower if you ski a lot of firm snow or spring conditions, wider only if you are genuinely chasing storm days.
It is an approachable intermediate ski rather than a true beginner ski, and it grows with you unusually well — which is why so many people keep theirs for years. The 88 is the more versatile width for someone still developing.
