The Lifthouse stocks Kästle at 3700 Fort Union Blvd, Cottonwood Heights, UT 84121 — at the junction of Big and Little Cottonwood Canyons, the last shop before Snowbird, Alta, Brighton and Solitude. What Kästle is good at
Kästle is another small Austrian maker with a long history and a distinctive approach — the hollowed tip construction is the visible signature, but the character people actually buy them for is how quiet and settled they feel underfoot.
Like Stöckli, they are premium and relatively rare in the US. Skiers who end up on Kästle usually got there after trying a lot of other things.
How Kästle skis in the Cottonwoods
The FX series is the freeride line and the one that suits this snowpack. Kästle's dampness is an asset in exactly the conditions the Cottonwoods produce most often — soft in the morning, tracked and uneven by afternoon. They ask for a skier who is deliberate about turn shape; they reward that and do not flatter someone who is not.

The ski matters less than the boot
We will happily sell you a Kästle ski, but if your boots do not fit, a better ski will not fix it. Most people ski in boots a full size too big. Boot fitting is included when you buy boots here — shell fitting, punching, custom footbeds and canting, done in-house.

FX is the freeride line — wider, built for soft snow and mixed conditions. MX is the frontside carving line — narrower, built to hold an edge on firm groomers. For Utah, most people want FX.
The FX96 is the versatile choice for a full Cottonwood season. The FX106 leans further into soft snow, and the FX116 is a dedicated powder ski rather than an everyday one.
