What Stöckli is good at
Stöckli is a small Swiss manufacturer that has quietly topped independent ski tests for years. The skis are hand-built, the volumes are low, and there are relatively few dealers in North America.
They are expensive, and the company does not particularly apologise for it. What you get is a level of finish and consistency that is genuinely hard to find elsewhere — and skis that tend to feel calmer and more precise than their specs suggest.
How Stöckli skis in the Cottonwoods
The Stormrider is the line most Utah skiers care about. In the mid-90s to mid-100s waist range it is an unusually composed ski — the kind that makes a rough afternoon feel smoother than it is. If you are the skier who has owned several good skis and keeps wanting something a bit better rather than a bit different, this is the shelf to look at.

The ski matters less than the boot
We will happily sell you a Stöckli ski, but if your boots do not fit, a better ski will not fix it. Most people ski in boots a full size too big. Boot fitting is included when you buy boots here — shell fitting, punching, custom footbeds and canting, done in-house.

They are hand-built in Switzerland in small volumes, with tighter manufacturing tolerances than mass-produced skis. Whether that justifies the price is a personal call — but the consistency is real, and it is why they place so well in blind ski tests.
For a Cottonwood season, the mid-90s to around 105mm range covers the most ground. Narrower if you ski a lot of firm and spring snow; wider only if you are specifically chasing storm days and already own something narrower.
